‘Featured Five’ Opportunities #5

Part #5 in our 2016 Featured Five series:
a twice-a-month peek at five opportunities out of 300+ available through TeachBeyond

Open House (2)BridgeWay North American School, which will open in the fall of 2016, is a God-vision-in-process joining the three North American nations together.

The first visible spark started with four individuals in 2008 and blazed into flame four years later as 13 Christ-followers joined together in one vision: for the transformation of families and community by establishing a culturally integrated Christian school in the heart of Mexico City.

Since 2012, this vision has spread like wildfire. Individuals, families, businesses, and organizations in Mexico, the U.S. and Canada have poured out their God-given gifts, prayed, and praised God who is building not only a school of bricks and mortar, but also His Kingdom in and through the body of Christ (c.f., Ephesians 2:21). How truly awesome it is to see God draw us together in one vision for His Kingdom purpose and glory!

There are many opportunities with TeachBeyond to join the work of transforming families and communities. Below are five examples of openings with a similar ministry focus. Many more jobs are listed on our Opportunities Board — check them out!

What opportunities present themselves in a restricted country?

7_Thailand_childrenEverything starts with relationships. Although that focus may seem the same in every country, the implications are different in countries where your presentation of the Good News is considered unwelcome, viewed with suspicion, and even illegal. When a relationship is established, there’s the possibility, with discernment, to share Jesus’ love and read the Bible together. There are opportunities to testify about our faith when relevant situations present themselves, such as honesty, gossip, ancestor worship, and altars to gods.

We have an opportunity to help develop the fundamental worldview they use to operate and make decisions, particularly in a society where mindsets are going through drastic transitions with the Internet and globalization influencing lives.

Our Opportunities Board on our website has some limited information about our openings in restricted countries, though you can inquire there or email us for more details.

English Camp
Igor (camper) with Sherry (volunteer)

English language skills are highly sought after in many parts of the world. Using your ability as a native English speaker, you can have an impact on campers like Igor:

Igor had been coming to English camp every year since it started and was now returning for his fifth time. God had pressed me to pray for him even before I left to go to camp. There was a particular urgency to it, as though this would be the last time he would be able to come to camp because of his age and the need to work in the future. So it was a huge blessing to see him go forward on the last night when an invitation was given…. I asked him if he was finally my brother. He replied, “Yes, thank you, Sherry.” As he spoke about committing his life to Jesus as his Savior, his new heart and trust in the Lord came through. It may have taken five years of hearing the Good News before Igor could fully respond, but the joy of his decision is so sweet I won’t ever forget it.

–Sherry, English Camp volunteer
