Some of the most exciting, challenging, fruitful work going on in TeachBeyond is in creative access areas of Asia and North Africa. It takes a special kind of person: are you willing to be salt and light in a place where Christians are few? Are you ready to have your witness be your life and Christian values, including the respectful, kind way you treat your students and colleagues—and where your hard work, creativity, and excellence in the classroom are observed and commented upon? In the context of friendships with colleagues and neighbors there are openings for discussions about faith.
What an opportunity to step out of your comfort zone into a cross-cultural environment where you will grow personally and professionally and where you can make a significant difference in the lives of students!
These partner schools approach education holistically, including academics and extra-curricular clubs in the program. Character and excellence are both valued and taught—something the parents support. Further the schools provide a quality, international, bilingual education so students gain not only excellent English skills, but learn to think critically and independently; students are prepared to work and live anywhere in the world.
To teach at one of these schools, you need a bachelor’s degree, a TESOL certificate or training. A teaching certificate in elementary or a middle/high school subject area is preferred. TeachBeyond can help you get the TESOL training. The bilingual schools tend to pay a monthly stipend; they expect a one to two-year commitment.
