Brasilia English Camp Transforms Lives

(Campers and volunteers in Brasilia are pictured above.)
The English Camp here in Brasilia went very well. Thanks for your prayers! My wife, Eileen, joyfully co-taught with our Katy, while David, Katy's husband, helped teach a different group. They also led workshops and helped with other activities. I spoke twice and translated the other main sessions. It was fantastic to be part of a camp again, with wonderful North American and Brazilian colleagues, including the kitchen crew of volunteers from the church cooking amazing Brazilian food (perhaps a little too amazing).
We were reminded of how God works in special ways in the intense spiritual and personal context that these camps thoughtfully and prayerfully generate. Camp is, for so many people, the place where they found their purpose in life, found salvation in Christ, found a new healthier lifestyle, new quality friendship, encouragement to journey through life’s difficulties, and fresh discoveries about themselves, others, joy, fun and a taste of what life can be! It is a dramatic time, when problems come to the surface.
It was moving on the final evening to see almost every camper come to kneel at the front in a gesture of their desire to live fully for Christ. Then, on our final day, Eileen and I had the privilege together with another team member of praying with a camper who invited Jesus to be his Saviour and Lord! We won’t forget that moment. He came from a different city, and we were able to introduce him as a brand-new believer to a pastor and his wife from his city who had just arrived to pick up their son.
Our volunteers are blessed to be part of this transforming ministry. You can join TeachBeyond for EFL projects lasting from a few weeks to two years. See more information here.
