Celebrating 10 Years of God’s Faithfulness at FATEB Kinshasa Academy

Celebrating 10 Years of God’s Faithfulness at FATEB Kinshasa Academy

On November 22, FATEB Kinshasa Academy (FKA) joyfully marked its 10-year anniversary, a milestone filled with gratitude, reflection and hope. Under the theme “Let’s Build a Better Future Together,” nearly 300 parents, pastors, neighboring school leaders, community members and friends gathered to celebrate all that God has done in and through this remarkable school over the past decade.

Despite significant political and economic challenges in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), FKA has experienced God’s unmistakable intervention and blessing. From its earliest days, the school has been a lighthouse of Christian education in Kinshasa, committed to transforming hearts and discipling students. The anniversary celebration became a beautiful moment to honor that work and the people who have faithfully carried it.

The program, carefully prepared by the staff and students, included a stunning men’s a cappella choir, a rap performance testifying to the work of Christ in one’s life, expressive dance and songs from the school choirs and heartfelt speeches of appreciation. Representatives from TeachBeyond Africa, regional leadership, parents and TeachBeyond DRC Board Chair John Fumana shared words of encouragement. The atmosphere was filled with joy, unity and deep thanksgiving.

A highlight of the day was honoring 6 students and 7 staff members who have been with the school since its beginning. These faithful individuals are now taking on increasing leadership roles within the school, in their churches and in the surrounding community. From its humble start with just 9 students and 3 teachers, FKA has grown to more than 240 students and over 23 dedicated staff, a testament to perseverance, prayer and God’s continued provision.

Special recognition goes to the Head of School and TeachBeyond DRC’s National Director, Heritier Fima, and to Board Chair John Fumana, who have each led with courage and resilience through seasons of difficulty. Their determination and faith have shaped the school into what it is today.

Bishop Niamuke, who first dreamed of establishing a Christian school centered on discipleship and heart transformation, and who invited TeachBeyond to partner in making this vision a reality, shared a meaningful message from God’s Word. Seeing the “living fruit” of this vision in the lives of students and teachers made the celebration especially moving.

One of the most memorable parts of the day was witnessing the joy on the faces of the students and staff, the contagious excitement, unity, and love that overflowed

throughout the celebration. Their enthusiasm reflected the heart of a school that has weathered challenges yet continues to shine brightly for Jesus.

As for me personally, I am deeply proud to have been part of FKA’s humble beginnings and it has been one of my greatest joys to walk alongside this community over the past 10 years.

Happy 10th Birthday, FATEB Kinshasa Academy! With gratitude for all God has done, we look forward with anticipation to the next decade, trusting that He will continue to use FKA to bring transformational education to the DRC and beyond.

Well done, FKA, we are so proud of you!
