Testifying to the Impact of Camp

Genuine relationships, deep community, and memories for a lifetime. These are the gifts that camp offers. Camp is a safe space to experience new things. Meet new people. Try new adventures. Maybe even try new food! Not only is camp full of energy and excitement, but it also is a place where people have to be vulnerable and open to serving others and being served. Long after camp has ended, the memories will linger and resurface. Why are camps so powerful? Because its impact is life-giving and life changing.
In July, 4 English Camps were held across Latin America: 2 in Brazil, one in Uruguay, and one in the Dominican Republic. Two of these camps happened for the first time! Praise the Lord for His faithfulness to grow and expand these camp ministries!
When campers participate in English Camps, they gain an experience that shows them how God uses people no matter their background or trauma in life. As stories from English Camps come in, we get a glimpse of the testimonies telling how campers “opened their hearts and shared past experiences and traumas...giving those burdens to God and deciding to change direction.” While other campers are seeing “the importance of having a daily devotional as they go through many hardships in life.”
But the impact doesn’t happen in just the campers. Across the board teachers and team members experience how, “it was truly rewarding to have deep conversations with each camper, to witness how their relationship with God grew, and to see the decisions they made — decisions that will surely draw them closer to Christ.”
Altogether these 4 English Camps served 169 campers, with the constant prayer that the love of Jesus would be sown in the most fertile soil, of each camper’s heart. We give thanks for not only the gospel proclaimed to campers, but also for the many teachers and team members who participated. May the seed that was planted grow and bear fruit in the life of each camper, and may Jesus be glorified through it.
