Join a new school startup in West Africa 

This new school startup in Togo opened its doors in September 2024 as a Microschool for missionary families and is growing into an international school focused especially on serving middle-to-upper class Togolese students.

What is the vision for the school?

Togo is a small country marked by multi-dimensional poverty that affects every aspect of life; yet it is also a nation of people endowed with remarkable, God-given abilities and potential. TeachBeyond Togo is in the process of establishing the International Christian School of Togo (ICS Togo) to participate in God’s ongoing mission of transforming individuals and communities into all He intends them to be. The mission of ICS Togo is to provide an excellent, international, Christian education that holistically shapes the lives of those who will, in turn, shape the nation. To impact those most likely to become the next generation of leaders in Togo—and to bring meaningful change to their country—ICS Togo seeks to serve primarily middle- to upper-class Togolese families, along with students of other nationalities, including missionary families.

What makes ICS Togo unique? Transformational Christian education; excellent, authentic Christian teachers; a strong focus on discipleship; integration of a biblical worldview and global mindedness throughout the curriculum; holistic education that develops the whole person; appropriate use of technology; small student-to-teacher ratios; equal opportunities for girls; intentional inclusion of students with differing needs; and a purposeful emphasis on making both a local and global impact for the glory of God. ICS Togo also prioritizes helping students know, understand, and apply God’s Word, engaging them in regular community service, and equipping a broad learning community that includes parents, families, and the wider community.

What is the plan for the startup?

The microschool began in September 2024 as a learning community designed to meet the needs of missionary families. This small cohort of students will also serve as a launching pad to attract national students in the coming years. The prayer is for the official school to open its doors in September 2027 with preschool and kindergarten, adding one grade level each subsequent year. The microschool cohort will continue alongside the regular school to provide the missing grade levels, ideally incorporating a few national students into these multi-age groups as enrollment and language proficiency allow.
