Beyond Borders Greece supports educational opportunities among those who are displaced. We use trauma-informed education practices, incorporating the expressive arts and peacebuilding themes into the curriculum.
In 2018, Beyond Borders began working on the island of Lesvos with the goal of creating safe healing and learning spaces for adults and children. Our learning programs included training and supporting teachers, English classes for all ages, and establishing libraries.
Currently, we have education programs for adults and children in the following locations:
- Refugee camp on the island of Lesvos, and expanding to camps on the islands of Samos and Chios
- Katafygio, an outreach center near Malakasa refugee camp on the mainland, north of Athens
- City center of Athens for brothel sex workers
- City center of Athens for children from undocumented refugee families, included in the program are daily meals
- Online English classes
- Local prison in Athens, and expanding to housing and discipleship ministry for released inmates
We invite you to invest in the lives of children, adults, and families seeking asylum in Greece by giving a gift to the Beyond Borders Greece education programs. Make a note on the gift if you would like to direct it to a specific program.
