How Worship Helped Aarav Find His Voice and Belong
When Aarav* first arrived at Founder’s Free School, he didn’t just carry the weight of being new. He also carried the loneliness of not being understood.
Coming from a tribal Christian village where he spoke a different language, Aarav couldn’t communicate with the students or teachers around him. Simple conversations felt impossible. Friendships felt out of reach. It would have been easy for him to withdraw completely, but the teachers didn’t let that happen.
With patience and creativity, they met him where he was, using gestures, sign language, and anything they could to help him feel seen. Day by day, through small, intentional acts from his teachers, Aarav began to experience belonging.
Aarav was also deeply drawn to worship. It unexpectedly became a gateway for his language development, spiritual growth, and even influence on other students. He would listen closely during rehearsal, repeating the words to himself. As he practiced, he began to speak, and as he sang, he began to understand. God helped Aarav break down barriers through melody and praise.
Today, Aarav speaks the local language fluently. But more than that, he has found his voice through his passion for worship. His love of praising God through song continues to grow, and through it, he has impacted those around him in ways no one could have predicted.
In a school where many students come from Muslim families, Aarav’s Christian background has become a powerful influence. His voice has brought hope, love, and a bridge that crosses cultural and religious divides. Despite ongoing tensions between the Christian community and the larger society, and the dangers believers often face, Founder’s Free School has become a haven of peace. Teachers freely share Bible stories, sing worship songs, and read scripture.
Students from different backgrounds learn side by side, not just academically, but relationally. They witness faith lived out daily through their teachers and Christian students like Aarav.
