Kilometers for Kids 2023 Highlights

Folks on 5 continents laced up their shoes and either ran, walked, or biked Kilometers for Kids on the weekend of June 9-11. This annual global fundraiser is in support of the marginalized children served by Open Schools Worldwide.
Among the participants in this year’s event were hikers in the Black Forest hills of Germany, runners in New Jersey, bikers in Canada, runners in France, walkers in South Africa, runners in Australia and walkers in the United Kingdom. Many more sponsored their kilometers, or gave set donations for Open Schools Worldwide.
An exciting aspect this year were the marches by Open Schools children through the streets of their own communities, chanting, wearing Kilometers for Kids running bibs and carrying home-made signs espousing the value of learning, their own worth and God’s love for us. These awareness marches took place in Ethiopia, Liberia, Zambia, and South Africa.
This year’s donations will go towards producing children’s workbooks and training resources in Uganda, Malawi, Lesotho, and Kenya, among other things. It will be several weeks before we know the final tally of funds generated for this year’s KM4K. But it was definitely inspiring once again to see the care and passion of folks around the world to help make a difference, and take steps (literally) to help bring about “hope though life-changing learning”. We are full of anticipation of what God will enable through this year’s Kilometers for Kids.
By the way, it’s not too late to add a contribution to Kilometers for Kids at www.osww.org/km4k.
