The Testimony of Camp Friendships
The Testimony of Camp Friendships
At one of our camps this summer, a student arrived carrying the fresh grief of losing his grandfather, just a week or 2 before camp began. Neither he nor his parents wanted him to come, yet he felt a strong pull to be there. He decided to go ahead with his camp plans just 3 days before it started.
What did he discover at camp? He found laughter and friendship, meaningful learning in English classes and chapel sessions, and—most importantly—a North American friend named Mark who reminded him of his grandfather.
Mark offered a timely hug and showed him genuine love, even as he grieved. This is precisely why we run English Camps: to share the love of Christ in every lesson, every conversation, and every embrace.
