Elementary Guidance Counselor

Seeking an elementary guidance counselor who can oversee the operations of the elementary counseling department and has a heart for education.

Essential Duties

• Special Education Needs - Oversees, gives guidance and coordinates the referral process between staff, therapists, special education teachers and parents. 
• Testing - Coordinates, provides materials and administers standardized tests. They will also keep organized records of these tests. 
• Student Management - Works with the elementary principal, parents and teachers on student grade placements, the promotion and retention of students, as well as ensuring the smooth transition of students to Middle School. 
• Teaching - Develops lessons and activities to support classroom teachers, especially those that deal with difficult and emotional issues.

Qualifications

• University teaching qualification and training in the educational counseling realm
• Basic computer skills for word processing and record keeping
• Completes the equivalent of six-quarter hours or four semester hours of graduate work in his/her field of study
• Complete a professional portfolio
