High School Chemistry Teacher

Essential Duties of the Job

• Prepare lessons according to curriculum guidelines.
• Give instruction and supervise students.
• Provide assessment of students according to guidelines given.
• Attend after school meetings and be available for extra-curricular activities as needed.

 Job Specifications

• Bachelor's degree & certification in education
• Minimum of one year teaching experience (preferred)
• Ability to work with children
• Desire to expand the reach of the Gospel
• Willingness to work as part of a team

Courses Offered in this Department

• Integrated Science (Gr. 9) studies the interconnections between astronomy, atmosphere, hydrosphere, biosphere and geosphere. Sustainability is also discussed with a focus on how energy is used and transferred. Emphasis on hands-on applications of the scientific method. 
• Chemistry examines the properties, structure and composition of the types of materials, including the changes in composition which these materials undergo. Presentations designed to enhance understanding of the makeup and changes in creation, to see why they behave as they do and develop problem-solving skills. Lab work provides inquiry experiences with concepts and materials being studied.
• AP Chemistry (and accompanying Lab) is the equivalent of a first-year college chemistry course. Students gain factual competence, a deeper understanding of chemical problems, develop an ability to think clearly and to express ideas with clarity and logic. Laboratory work is essential to the course.
