POSITION OVERVIEW

As a Secondary History Teacher at Bingham Academy, your mission is to engage in transformational education - teaching your subject matter with excellency while developing students holistically, cultivating wisdom, nurturing character and equipping the next generation to serve their communities and influence the world.

ABOUT BINGHAM ACADEMY

Founded in 1947, Bingham Academy is a Christian international school in serving students from East Africa, missionary and international families. The school provides quality Christian education within a diverse, multicultural community and equips students of integrity to influence the world for God's glory.  

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor's degree in related subject
  • Teaching Certification/License
  • Able to teach more than 1 subject in the social studies department
  • Experience with teaching the skills aspects of these courses (e.g. dissect and teach historiography)
  • Experience with teaching Cambridge Curriculum. IGCSE and/or A-Level (desired, but negotiable)
  • 2+ years of teaching experience (desired, but negotiable)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and deliver engaging, student-centered lessons aligned with the Cambridge curriculum and the school's educational goals. 
  • Prepare schemes of work, learning resources and assessments that monitor academic progress and support character development. 
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback and maintain accurate records of student attainment and progress.
  • Create a safe, inclusive and supportive classroom and manage it in a consistent, restorative and Christ-centered manner. 
  • Integrate a Christian philosophy of education and model Christlikeness in relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. 
  • Teach and serve in a broad range of responsibilities as requested by administration. 
  • Communicate timely and professionally with parents as needed, discussing student performance and writing annual reports.
  • Maintain personal teaching certifications.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development.
