Lower School EAL Teacher

Looking for a teaching opportunity in a vibrant, multicultural environment? Ready to engage in the lives of non-native English speaking learners in an academic and spiritual environment? GDQ International Chrisitan School has an EAL opening beginning August 2026. 

GDQ International Christian School seeks to provide a Christ-centered, academically enriching, international education for the missionary and international business community. We are looking for qualified educators who have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and desire to grow in their ability to teach from a biblical worldview perspective.

Responsibilities:

  • Work intensively with students, in a one-on-one situation and in a whole class context (as appropriate) on specific aspects of language development.
  • Promote good progress and outcomes by students.
  • Make accurate and productive use of assessments.
  • Prepare and select suitable learning material to provide access to mainstream curriculum, including the development of differentiated resources.
  • Help develop and keep curriculum documentation updated.

English Language Plan (ELP) Responsibilities:

  • Develop ELPs for EAL students, in liaison with class teachers and subject teachers as appropriate.
  • Conduct meetings with parents to discuss initial ELPs.
  • Arrange regular ELP review meetings with parents.
  • Work collaboratively with class teachers and subject teachers (as appropriate) to review achievement of ELP target and set new targets.
  • Ensure that ELPs are kept up to date (keeping records of relevant assessments and data).

Additional Responsibilities

  • Identify students requiring EAL support upon entry into school and conduct individual assessments.
  • In liaison with the Head of Sector, develop the schedule for student support.
  • Work in partnership with classroom and subject teachers to enhance student learning, ensuring that resources and materials support student learning.
  • Support classroom and subject teachers in utilizing EAL strategies in the classroom.
  • Contribute to training activities as requested to build awareness of EAL methodology in the classroom.
  • Provide guidance to support staff and/or volunteers that are giving EAL support to students.

Finances: Monthly Allowance plus Personal Support

All international staff provide for the majority of their financial resources. Most international staff partner with a sending/mission organization. Others have personal funds available. GDQ provides a monthly allowance of around $450 and will reimburse annually travel costs between a staff member's home country and Albania up to 100000 Albanian Lek.

Qualifications:

  • A clear testimony of faith in Christ.
  • An undergraduate or graduate degree
  • Preferred: A valid teaching certificate.
  • Open to raise financial support either personally or in partnership with a sending organization
