Maintenance Specialist
Opportunity Requirements:
- To ensure the safe use and maintenance of BFA owned/leased buildings and vehicles. This includes our academic buildings and student residences.
- To serve under the authority of the maintenance supervisor and to fulfill the duties as assigned by the maintenance supervisor.
- The typical workday begins at 8:00 AM (unless otherwise prearranged). Workdays are 8 hour long, or longer if needed. Maintenance staff members work Monday through Friday including snow days, portions of BFA breaks, and some Saturdays, based on the work needing to be done at that time. Sundays and German holidays are not workdays.
- When assigned projects, report progress to the maintenance supervisor when possible at the end of the workday, or at latest, in the morning the next work day.
- To help maintain a safe and a comfortable environment for the students and staff at BFA and the dorms.
- To purchase needed items after submitting a request to the maintenance supervisor.
- The maintenance supervisor is responsible for the finances of the maintenance department.
- You may be given certain financial responsibility, but it must go through the maintenance supervisor first.
- The requests need to pass through the maintenance supervisor who maintains a big picture of the need for your time and expertise.
- Go to home improvement stores to see what tools are available to recommend for purchase are recommendations for improving your skill set while part of the maintenance crew.
BFA staff raise their own funds and must agree to the BFA Core Documents, which includes our Statement of Faith.
