National Director - Serbia
The National Director will provide direct leadership and oversight to the growth, development, implementation, and monitoring of TeachBeyond Serbia. This includes ensuring TeachBeyond’s interests are effectively represented in Serbia, and the surrounding territories (i.e., Croatia, Montenegro, Bosnia, etc.) and facilitate the embracing of TeachBeyond’s vision, values, and services locally.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Minimum undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Education, Educational Leadership and Policy, Social Services, Theology and Biblical Studies; or related field of study; or equivalent professional career experience may be accepted
- Proven leadership and administrative experience, with the ability to provide consultative guidance and cultivate available resources to respond to needs
- Working knowledge of business administrative disciplines, including compensation practices, employee relations, organizational diagnosis, and local employment law highly preferred
- Significant intercultural experience; including at least 2-years’ cross-cultural missions, preferably in areas related to existing TeachBeyond ministries
- Extensive leadership experience in a faith-based non-profit organization, business, or educational institution, preferably serving as a director
- Proven experience leading diverse teams and project managers
- Strong project management experience (for capital and administrative projects)
Professional and Technical Skills:
- Self-starter; ability to work independently, as a team player, and from a distance
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills, coupled with additional language skills: fluency in Serbian or Croatian needed to perform the duties of this role
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and project management skills, coupled with the ability to work with remote workforce collaboration tools
- Willingness and ability to adjust and adapt to changing conditions and priorities
- Ability to provide mediation, member care support, conflict management, and development to team
- Working knowledge of Office 365 tools for day-to-day business, including Outlook email and calendar, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint and Word

Responsibilities and Duties:
Assist with the development, implementation, and monitoring of TeachBeyond Serbia as it relates to TeachBeyond Global
- Pray
- Strategize with Regional Vice President, Associate Regional Directors, and project/team leaders for effective integration and outreach within Serbia
- Communicate regularly with the Regional Vice President and Organizational Development staff
- Support and facilitate the continual improvement of TeachBeyond Serbia facilities and infrastructure
- Participate as a member of the European Leadership Network
- Participate as a member on the Global Leadership Council
- Develop and support the TeachBeyond Serbia’s National Board
- Serve as ex-officio board member for the TeachBeyond Serbia operated schools (as applicable)
- Collaborate with Global Educational Services to identify opportunities for services and initiate contact in country for these services
- Participate in the budget setting process as guided by TeachBeyond Global and supply relevant data for general operation and specific projects in Serbia
- Submit quarterly reports of spending and forecasting to TeachBeyond Global finance in a form that is agreed to by the financial officers and the Europe Region’s Leadership Team
Ensure TeachBeyond’s interests are effectively represented in Serbia and surrounding territories (i.e., Croatia, Montenegro, Bosnia, etc.) and vice-versa
- Represent the interests of and advocate for Serbia to TeachBeyond’s global community
- Adhere to Executive Limitations established by the TeachBeyond Serbia’s national board
- Assist with Serbian government relations including visas and work permit procurement, as needed
- Ensure TeachBeyond Serbia and projects adhere to all laws regarding governance and financial responsibilities
- Develop and maintain relationships with like-minded nationals, expat leaders, and ministries within Serbia and surrounding territories (i.e., Croatia, Montenegro, Bosnia, etc.)
- Ensure the board explores new initiatives
Facilitate the embracing of TeachBeyond’s vision, values, and services among team projects and members
- With the national board, develop a local strategic plan consistent with the TeachBeyond Orienting Goals, including setting local vision and mission, for the initiatives in the Serbia that contribute to TeachBeyond’s global strategic plan
- Monitor and report on accomplishments against the goals as well as revisions to the strategic plan
- Establish procedures (with the assistance of Global Services) for reporting measurements of projects and programs consistent with those required by the Global Committee
- Visit TeachBeyond Serbia projects and staff regularly, at least once a year
- Work with local and global Educational and Support Services to ensure effective polices are implemented
- Designate the board to take leadership in fundraising activities in the country to fund projects and develop a self-sustaining organization
Support and develop teams and project leaders within Serbia
- Facilitate ongoing training and professional development of leaders, and national staff when applicable
- Seek to ensure housing and member care are provided for international team members (where applicable)
- Regular visits and meetings, coaching, and evaluations of projects with leaders
- Second-level involvement in conflict management and administrative support, collaborating closely with Global People Services
- Ensure members within all projects, with no team leader, have at least two personal touchpoints with TeachBeyond each school year
Reports to: Europe Regional Vice President | TeachBeyond Global and Board Chairman | TeachBeyond Serbia Board
Supervises: Team leaders, project leaders, and all members not under a specific team or project in Serbia
Relates to: Regional Council (member); National Board; Global Leadership Council (member); Member Council; partner projects
Location: This position is required to live within Serbia
Status: Part-time, 15-20 hours/week (with long-term outcome to become full-time)
Pay is based on the applicant's own ability to raise funds for their salary; paid via donor or self-support.
