91: Praying the Prayers of Scripture (with Brian Delamont)
In this last episode of 2022, Brian Delamont returns to the podcast to guide us in looking to the pages of Scripture to enrich our prayer life.
- “The greatest resource that we have for prayer is the Bible - to look at Scripture, to read it with an awareness that it is a conversation that God has with us through the entire Bible. All of Scripture is God talking to us.”
- Context questions: Who is speaking? How might I place myself in this conversation? Who is being spoken to? How is my current situation similar/different?
- Content questions: What does this passage tell me about God? What does this passage tell me about people?
- Community questions: What does this passage tell me about myself? What does this passage tell me about those around me?
- Exodus 34:5-7
- “How will this passage of Scripture inform my prayer?”
- Numbers 6:24-26
- “We have this amazing opportunity to really extend our vocabulary, if you will, in our conversation with God by grounding ourselves in what He has already said to us and what other people over millennia have said to Him.”
- “The more we see what God is doing, the more we get to worship.”
