The Mobilization Team

Heather Brown

Heather Brown
Pittsburgh, PA
Heather studied elementary education at Grove City College and taught at Black Forest Academy for five years. Upon returning to the United States, Heather joined the mobilization team and now serves as Director of Mobilization, Orientation, and Partnership Services. Heather loves having people in her home, trying new coffee shops, and co-hosting the Transformed & Transformational podcast.

Christy

Christy Biscocho
Wiesbaden, Germany
Christy studied elementary education at Houghton College and has been involved in education ever since! She has had a variety of experiences from teaching ESL and middle school science to coaching teachers in several African countries.  She has lived in five countries on four different continents. Christy joined TeachBeyond in 2013, and serves with Mobilization and the Sparrow Project. She enjoys teaching Sunday School, getting outside, being creative, and exploring new places with her husband, Mike, and two daughters.

Amanda

Amanda Cameron
Hamilton, Ontario
Amanda is a small-town Canadian girl, who loves God and enjoys adventures.  She has a BA in Christian Ministry from Briercrest College and a B.Ed from Crandall University. Along with being a wife and mother to four children, she has been a youth pastor, music teacher, and private piano instructor. Amanda and her family lived in Nigeria for four years, where she taught Middle School Bible and loved the amazing experience of serving in a new culture. Now as a Mobilization Coach, Amanda loves connecting with teachers who are passionate about teaching and interested in serving God overseas. 

Ruth

Ruth Jansen
Grand Rapids, MI
Ruth graduated from Taylor University in 2017 with a degree with Math Education with a minor in Music. After teaching in Michigan for 2 years, she moved to Senegal where she taught math and music at Dakar Academy from 2019-2023. In 2023, she joined the mobilization team and returned to her hometown of Grand Rapids, MI. One might say that Ruth has never met a stranger. She enjoys making conversation about anything and everything from sports, to music, to board games, and much more. 

Tim

Tim Kmett
Scranton, PA
Tim taught in Maryland and Pennsylvania public schools for 16 years before joining TeachBeyond in 2016, when he and his family moved to Bangladesh to teach at William Carey Academy. He enjoyed teaching in this new context and learned that he had a passion for not only serving in missions, but also encouraging others to pursue missions. Connecting with college students who are interested in missions is a highlight of his work in Mobilization. In his free time, Tim loves gardening, fishing, hunting, and hiking, as well as teaching Middle School at his church’s Youth Group. He is refreshed spending time with his wife and four children. 

Danielle Miner
Duluth, MN
Danielle graduated from Houghton College and Lebanon Valley College with biology and education degrees. She taught secondary science in Pennsylvania for four years before moving to Russia in 2007, with her husband and young daughter, where they served at International Academy of St. Petersburg. During their time in Russia, they had two more children and adopted one.  They moved back to the US in 2022, and Danielle joined the TeachBeyond mobilization team the next year. She is enjoying walking alongside people as they explore possibilities with TeachBeyond and begin their adventure of serving the Lord through transformational education. Danielle loves hiking, camping, and cross-country skiing, and she’s happy to be living in Minnesota now, where there is plenty of snow!

 

Pete

Pete Sanderlin
Buena Vista, CO
Pete taught for 22 years in Istanbul, Turkey, before returning to the US and starting to work with TeachBeyond in 2011. He and his wife, Pam, have one adult daughter. Pete enjoys floorball, running, reading, and fixing things that are broken.

Rachel

Rachel Schmitt
Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio
Rachel studied elementary education at Moody Bible Institute (’08) and has been involved with TeachBeyond ever since! She taught middle school math and science for ten years at Black Forest Academy in Germany and for one year at Evangelical Christian Academy in Spain. Rachel returned to the United States in 2021 to get married and is now serving as a Mobilization Coach. She has a heart for supporting missionary families on the field and is excited to continue providing transformational education through recruiting and sending new members.

Kimberly Smith

Frederick, MD
Kim serves as TeachBeyond’s Short-Term Coordinator and loves working with applicants serving for a few weeks or a few months!  Kim graduated from Eastern University in 2007 and worked for the Department of Defense in Washington, DC, for seven years. She and her husband then lived in Germany for several years. With her husband and daughter, Kim enjoys exploring new places, reading, having impromptu home dance parties, and eating cookies.

Morgan Walker

Morgan Walker
Idaho Falls, ID
Morgan attended Ecola Bible School and Corban University, where she graduated with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in Music and English. Morgan and her husband moved overseas in 2017 to serve with TeachBeyond in Central Asia for three years. She currently resides in Idaho Falls and enjoys playing music with her husband and spending with their son. She loves hearing how God is at work in people’s lives over a good cup of joe.
