Walking in Love
In traditional education in the creative access Southeast Asian country that houses LinGo Ocean City, a TeachBeyond LinGo English Language Center, students are expected to conform to strict standards, and suffer significant consequences when they don’t. Therefore, when local students come to study English at Lingo Ocean City, they don’t often respond well to a less severe form of behavior management.
One student in particular, Bo (name changed), tested the limits quite often during his first few months. As frustrating as it could be, his teachers worked hard to be patient, but consistent, with him. One day, Bo’s mother told the staff that some of her family members wanted him to learn English from a different center, with a more traditional approach to studying. It was cheaper, and they felt that Bo would be too scared to misbehave. However, she said that she had insisted that he stay at Ocean City. She saw how he was truly cared for at Ocean City, and could see improvements, although slow, in his behavior.
“Sometimes we underestimate the ways that God can work, despite the inability to share our faith openly. Stories like this, remind us that even something as simple as ‘walking in love’ can have an impact on our students and their parents,” said the Head Teacher at Ocean City Lingo.
"And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God."
Ephesians 5:2
