Business Studies Teacher

Position Summary

We are seeking a Business Studies Teacher who can teach a range of humanities subjects—such as History, Geography, Global Perspectives, Psychology, Religious Education or Social Studies—according to the school’s curriculum and grade-level needs. The teacher will foster curiosity, critical thinking, and analytical skills while creating an engaging, student-centred learning environment appropriate for an international context.

The Business Studies Teacher who will be responsible for providing high-quality teaching and learning in Business Studies, supporting students to develop a strong understanding of business concepts, enterprise, decision-making and the wider economic environment.

Key Responsibilities – reporting to the Head of Humanities, your key responsibilities will include:

A. Teaching & Learning

  • Plan and deliver high-quality lessons by developing engaging learning materials
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies to support diverse learners and promote inquiry, discussion, and analytical thinking
  • Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and parents to support growth and development
  • Contribute to the development, review, and enhancement of the Business Studies curriculum
  • Ensure curriculum continuity, progression, and alignment across grade levels

B. Classroom Management & Pastoral Care

  • Create a safe, inclusive, respectful learning environment that supports all learners
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively using school policies and restorative approaches
  • Provide pastoral support to students and contribute to the school’s homeroom programme, if assigned

C. Professional Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessments, and student performance
  • Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and school leadership
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous improvement in teaching practices
  • Participate in staff meetings, school events, and collaborative planning sessions
  • Contribute to extracurricular activities such as clubs, competitions, service projects, or field trips
  • Uphold the school’s mission, values, and safeguarding standards

Qualifications & Experience

A. Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Studies / Economics or a related field
  • A teaching qualification / certification
  • Experience teaching Business Studies in a school setting
  • Strong English communication skills (spoken and written)
  • Ability to work effectively with students from diverse cultural backgrounds

B. Preferred

  • Familiarity with Cambridge International Curriculum
  • Ability to integrate inquiry-based and project-based learning
  • Experience with digital learning tools (e.g., Google Workspace, interactive platforms)
