Saturday 17 January

Quiet your heart and mind. Breathe deeply and exhale slowly. Imagine going to a high place with Jesus. Let the excitement grow in you as you follow Him and wait for what He wants to show you.

“Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; bring an offering and come into his courts.”

Psalm 96:8

Ponder: What experiences in your life have filled your heart with amazement at God’s greatness?

Scripture

If the Lord had not been on our side—
    let Israel say—
if the Lord had not been on our side
    when people attacked us,
 they would have swallowed us alive
    when their anger flared against us;
 the flood would have engulfed us,
    the torrent would have swept over us,
 the raging waters
    would have swept us away.

 Praise be to the Lord,
    who has not let us be torn by their teeth.
 We have escaped like a bird
    from the fowler’s snare;
the snare has been broken,
    and we have escaped.
 Our help is in the name of the Lord,
    the Maker of heaven and earth.

Psalm 124

First, imagine Jesus is focusing on you, looking you right in the eye, and holding out a gift for you. Hear Him pray this over you. Read the blessing again slowly. What do you notice?

God is a miracle worker!

Last year we had a student who was going through a very difficult time at school. The student was rebelling and damaging school property.

We spent a lot of time working and praying with this student. The parents were very worried as well because they too had tried all they could to help him correct his ways.

We have a Friday night youth meeting at school called Refuel. The student started coming to the Refuel meetings.

Some young adults from YWAM and even alumni of our school speak regularly at Refuel.

The student started to change after hearing other young people’s testimonies and we have seen a tremendous change in the student’s attitude and behavior.

We congratulated him and continue praying for him. The highlight was when we were able to share his behavior changes with his parents and they confirmed behavior changes at home too.

Praise God who changes hearts and minds and transforms young people through His word.
