Creative Access
It has been a hard year for Pari*, a local teacher at a TeachBeyond school that serves underprivileged children at a creative access location in South Asia. On going home to her village during the Christmas break, she contracted the Covid-19 virus and was seriously ill. While on the way back with her family, post recovery, they met with an accident. Even though they only suffered minor injuries, they were all quite shaken by this experience.Pari suffered from insomnia and significant post-Covid effects. She couldn’t remember how to cook or teach. She didn’t remember how to get to school. The lack of sleep was causing depression and had destroyed her self-confidence to do anything.
“The staff at the school were worried about her and we prayed for her every day,” said PH, TeachBeyond member and director of the school. “The other teachers taught her classes online and had her sit next to them. They patiently showed her how to do things again and again. We walked her home a few times until she could remember the path.”
Little by little, over a two-month period, Pari was able to regain her mental ability. She started to sleep again. She is now back to her normal self, and praises God for her complete healing. She is able to teach and handle the responsibilities of her home again.
“We are thrilled at how God worked in her life. I am thankful for the sacrifices of the staff, who took on extra duties and encouraged her through her roughest days. They worked extra hard to handle Pari’s classes, in addition to their own. The teachers testify that the school is a special family, and we care for each other. I saw that play out in Pari’s life and am thankful that God has given us a community where we love and care for each other,” shared PH.
Pray for this project
- The school hasn’t been able to have in person classes since March 2020. Due to financial constraints, about a fourth of the students are using their phone for online classes. Please pray that schools would be able to open soon.
- Pray for wisdom for the staff when they open the school, as students are going to be at different levels academically.
- Many of the students, having been out of routine school for so long, will have difficulty returning to school. They may want to continue to play and hang out with their friends. Pray for wisdom in the transitions coming back.
- Pray that God will soften the hearts of students and that the staff will faithfully share His love to the families.
