Equipping Christian Teachers in Argentina

“When I got to know about the vision of Instituto Superior Moody, I felt the desire to be part of this dream: missionary teachers equipping schools in Argentina, to teach our children and guide them through the Word of God,” says student teacher Adriana Montoya. 

Moody Institute (also known as Argentina Teachers College) opened in 2023. This is a joint effort by Teach Beyond Argentina with the support of a local church, Jesucristo Rey (Jesus Christ the King).  

 It is the only Christian Teacher Training College in Cordoba, a city of almost 4 million people. It’s a city where due to crushing inflation and poverty, only 4 out of 10 students graduate high school. “There is a tremendous need for Christian teachers who will provide a Bible-based education that can transform students, schools, families and communities,” says Marisol Gomez, Director of Moody.  

The Teacher Training program is 4 years long. Upon graduation, teachers are qualified to work in both the public and private school systems. The program includes courses that teach Biblical principles and emphasizes and encourages solid Christian character development. 

“I give thanks to the members of Moody,” Adriana continues, “who not only teach us, but also give us their spiritual support and their prayers to be able to stand firm in the face of the adversities.” 

Adriana is working longs days taking classes at Moody and holding down a job as well.  “Today, I am very happy to see how much I have improved in my social and intellectual skills. To understand that all my potential, skills, and gifts, were there waiting to be activated. I have no doubts that God is the one who has given me this opportunity. 

Future plans for Moody will see an English Center, called Life Academy, start this August. The hope and prayer is that with these 2 initiatives, the Teacher Training program and the English Academy, they could start a movement in Argentina. It would involve local churches working with Moody to raise up Christian teachers to work in schools throughout Argentina.
