Deputy Superintendent

Responsibilities:

Leadership

  • Articulate a vision for academic affairs that is embraced by team members
  • Provide leadership for the academic planning process
  • Ensure that academic programs at Grace meet the needs of each student admitted
  • Create and maintain a positive climate within the various academic divisions
  • Model shared governance with the Academic Admin Team and faculty
  • Assume the duties of the superintendent in the absence of the superintendent
  • Advise the superintendent on all academic matters concerning Grace according to the succession plan
  • Oversees the budgets for the academic divisions
  • Assist in the development of policies and administrative regulations needed for the academic divisions
  • Assist in the development, supervision and evaluation of personnel and programs serving the academic divisions
  • Prepare monitoring and annual reports on the status of programs and services relevant to the Superintendent’s

Limitations and Ends policies

  • Work with the recruitment department in academic faculty recruitment, promotion, and retention processes
  • Encourage cultural diversity

Accreditation and Schoolwide Improvement

  • Collect data, organize documentation, and compile annual (May and September) and mid-term reports with WASC, ACSI, and SMS, reporting on our compliance with accreditation standards and progress on Schoolwide Improvement Plan goals in collaboration with the Academic Admin Team and Superintendent’s Cabinet
  • Document that the school has responded to recommendations from accrediting agencies, including them in the Schoolwide Improvement Plan and other department plans
  • Serve as the chair of the accreditation self-study steering committee and oversee the self-study process as outlined by accrediting agency guidelines
  • Assist the School Director and Thai Accreditation Coordinator as necessary in the completion of SMS accreditation requirements
  • Make arrangements for accreditation visiting committees
  • Oversee the writing of each section of the Schoolwide Improvement Plan, annual update of the plan, and completion of each section of the plan
  • In collaboration with the Curriculum and Instruction Director, organize the planning and evaluation process related to the School Improvement Plan as it relates to student learning
  • Disseminate accreditation reports, the Schoolwide Improvement Plan, and Schoolwide Improvement Plan progress to GIS stakeholder
  • Ensure that there are adequate funds for accreditation and SIP initiatives, oversee the budget for accreditation, and ensure that annual fees are paid on time
  • Fulfill responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent Communication and Representation
  • Provide effective interaction and communication between the superintendent cabinet and academic administration team
  • Represent Grace to appropriate external groups and individuals, especially those with whom the academic faculty is likely to interact
  • Represent the school at appropriate local, association and accreditation meetings
  • Work cooperatively with leaders of other departments and agencies, both inter departmental and intra-department to accomplish school goals
  • Interpret the academic programs, philosophy and policies of Grace to the stakeholders

Curriculum and Instruction

  • Assist in the supervision of the educational programs and serve as a resource person to academic administrators in those areas of responsibility
  • Assist the curriculum and instruction director and academic admin team in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the professional development program for teachers and administrators
  • Explore, develop, and implement innovative communication networks to enhance delivery, implementation, operation, and evaluation of the educational program
  • Consult with the IT director and Educational Technology Coordinator in setting educational technology priorities and technology initiatives
  • Work cooperatively with the special needs and extension services divisions to meet the needs of the respective constituency
  • Network with administrators, principals, teachers, and parents relative to curriculum, administrative functions, instructional materials, and evaluation of educational programs
  • Serve as TRAK administrator in absence of curriculum and instruction staff
  • Remain abreast of legal and curricular developments and innovations

Orientation and Training

  • Work with the Chief Operations Officer to see that training is implemented (includes new staff orientation in coordination with HR and the academic admin team, including required training such as sexual harassment prevention, child abuse prevention, health training, TRAK, and technology training)

General

  • Perform duties assigned by the superintendent
