Elementary Teacher

The International Academy of Suriname is seeking a motivated and qualified Elementary teacher to join our team.

Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver engaging, impactful lessons that align with the school's curriculum and meet the diverse needs of all students.
• Assess student progress regularly and provide constructive feedback to students, parents, and colleagues to support growth.
• Encourage students to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills, fostering intellectual curiosity and independence.
• Collaborate with fellow educators and staff to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all students.
• Monitor and assess student progress, communicating achievements and areas for improvement to students and parents.
• Work with students, specialists, parents, and administrators to develop individualized education plans, independent study programs, and academic remediation plans as needed.
• Maintain complete and accurate records of student academic performance and disciplinary actions.
• Commit to continuous professional development, enhancing knowledge and teaching skills to better serve students.
• Model intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and self-discipline in the classroom, setting an example of competence, honesty, responsibility, and respect for others.
• Adhere to the school's policies and directives, working collaboratively with the Director, staff, parents, and the broader community to achieve the school’s mission.

Job Requirements:

• Holding a university Bachelor degree in Elementary Education, preferably obtained at a Christian teaching college in the US or Canada
• Native English speaker

We offer a monthly stipend along with free housing, utilities, phone, internet, and health and dental insurance. Additionally, we cover the cost of the first and last airfare. Professional development is facilitated through partnerships with MISCIO, Southeastern University, ACSI's Professional Development Board, professional development days, and on-site training.
