English as an Additional Language (EAL) Teacher
Grace International School is seeking a compassionate and experienced English as an Additional Language (EAL) Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing English language support to students who are non-native English speakers. A teaching license or certification is required; experience working with English language learners is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver English language instruction tailored to the needs and proficiency levels of EAL students in alignment with the school’s curriculum and standards.
- Provide support and scaffolding to help EAL students develop their English language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
- Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where EAL students feel valued, respected, and empowered to participate actively in classroom activities and discussions.
- Collaborate with content-area teachers to integrate language and content instruction, ensuring that EAL students can access and engage with grade-level curriculum.
- Assess EAL students’ language proficiency and academic progress through ongoing formative assessments and periodic evaluations.
- Develop and implement individualised learning plans and strategies to address the unique linguistic and academic needs of EAL students.
- Communicate regularly with EAL students, their families, and other stakeholders to provide updates on student progress and support their academic success.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in language teaching and cultural competency.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), Linguistics, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Teaching license or certification required.
- Experience working with English language learners in a school setting.
- Strong understanding of language acquisition theories and best practices in EAL instruction.
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs and proficiency levels of EAL students.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and families from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Commitment to cultural sensitivity, equity, and inclusion in education.
- Familiarity with educational technology tools and resources to support language learning.
