Head of School
The Head of School is a leader who promotes success for every student by advocating and nurturing a school culture and instructional program conducive to student learning and professional growth.
The Head of School is responsible, either directly or through delegation, for the leadership of all educational, operational, and financial aspects of William Carey Academy (WCA) and William Carey School (WCS). As the sole direct employee of the Board, the Head of School is also the person through whom the board ensures that the mission and vision of the school are being met.
About William Carey Academy
Located in the second largest city in Bangladesh, William Carey Academy provides English-medium instruction using an American curriculum in a Bangladeshi context to 360 K-12 students. The goal of the school is to provide a model of international-standard education which will prepare students to study at world-class universities. The school was founded in 1996, with Grades K-3 and graduated its first senior class in 2006.
Responsibilities:
- Provide effective leadership to school personnel
- Act as the Board's sole official connection to the school:
- Prepare reports for and attend Board meetings
- Prepare and supervise the preparation of the annual budge
- Oversee the management of operational policies including, but not limited to, Student Behaviour, Staff Conduct, Teaching and Learning, Assessment, Enrollment, Fees, Finance and Grievance.
- Always represent the school in a manner that aligns with the mission and vision in an exemplary way, taking on reasonable additional responsibilities requested by the Board.
Qualifications:
Experience
- Degree level qualification and post graduate study; Master's degree in administration or education preferred
- Minimum 2 years senior leadership experience, preferabbly in an education setting and in more than one setting
- ASCI Certification, or willing to be coming ACSI certified
- Significant cross-cultural experience, prerabbly in a South Asian setting

- Excellent written and spoken communication in English
- Ability to foster healthy team dynamics
- Problem solving and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to adapt and learn quickly
Personal
- Alignment with WCA mission, vision, and values
- Mature experience and judgement
- A Christian Believer who is an active participant in a local Christian community
