Description:
The Subject Teacher is responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing engaging and practical lessons that align with the school’s curriculum and promote student growth. They foster a positive and inclusive learning environment and provide individual support to students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and implement engaging, interactive learning activities and assessments that align with curriculum standards.
- Develop and deliver age-appropriate lessons in health science for primary and secondary students.
- Create and implement engaging, interactive learning activities and assessments that align with curriculum standards.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and individualised support where needed.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment that encourages student participation.
- Integrate practical health-related activities and real-life scenarios into the curriculum to enhance learning.
- Stay updated on current trends, research, and developments in health science education.
- Collaborate with other teachers and school staff to support student achievement and well-being.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, assessments, and progress.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress and classroom activities.
- Promote health and wellness initiatives within the school community.
- Be available for staff and student medical emergencies and consultations about medical crises.
- Participate in professional development activities and staff meetings.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Science, Education, or related field.
- Teaching certification.
- English fluency in reading, writing, and speaking, especially about medical terminology.
- Previous teaching experience in health science or a related subject (preferred).
- Knowledge of primary and secondary health science curricula and standards.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
- Passion for promoting health and wellness in educational settings.
- Strong knowledge of health topics such as nutrition, physical activity, mental health, hygiene, and disease prevention.
- Proficient in using technology and educational tools to enhance teaching and learning.
