Latin America Regional Translation Specialist
This person will be responsible for keeping track of available translated resources and responding to regional translation needs. Current certificate of fluency in Spanish or Portuguese is required.
Location: Latin America, preferably in a country with a TeachBeyond entity and in proximity to the national office
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Communicate consistently with National Directors to hear about current needs and offer available services.
- Participate in appropriate meetings and teams, mutually representing the region and translation services, including on:
- quarterly regional service team meetings
- weekly translation team meetings
- others as needed
- Meet with the Translation Coordinator regularly.
- Serve as a liaison between the regional team, national projects and national entities and the Global Translation Team, reporting regularly on translation needs, translator training, and available translation resources.
- Translate and proofread translations in assigned languages.
- Keep the phrase term base/glossary and resource hub up to date.
Qualitifications:
- Current certificate of fluency in Spanish or Portuguese is required
- Extensive knowledge of Spanish and/or Portuguese grammar required.
- Undergraduate degree (or work experience) in Spanish or Portuguese Language, or Translation required.
- Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in translation strongly preferred.
- Proven leadership and administrative experience, with the ability to provide consultative guidance and cultivate available resources to respond to needs
- Professional experience in a Christian faith-based non-profit organization preferred
- Experience with industry standard CAT tools preferred (Phrase, Trados, Smart Cat etc.)
This opportunity is a remote (based in Latin America) and support based position. Pay is based on the applicant's own ability to raise funds for their salary; paid via donor or self-support.
