Middle and High School English Teacher

TEACHING RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach subject content to high school students using the curriculum provided.
    • All grade 9-10 students follow the IGCSE curriculum. This culminates in a Cambridge exam given in May/June. This exam is administered at the school but is marked by Cambridge Examiners in the UK.
    • Grades 11-12 follow a dual track curriculum with the option of doing some APs. This exam is administered in May/June at the school and sent to the US for grading by the College Board.
    • Class sizes range from 16-24 students.
  • Maintain current records of student progress and communicate with parents using the school’s online management system.
  • Participate in annual Student-Led Conferences. Meet with parents for additional conferences as needed.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise students during assigned arrival, lunch and study hall times.
  • Attend and participate in general staff meetings.
  • Participate in curriculum development and attend professional development programs.
  • Carry out any other tasks assigned by the Principals.
  • Assist with extra-curricular activities.

QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED:

Education Credentials:

  • University Degree (Bachelor’s degree) in subject being taught.
  • Current certificate or teaching license from your country’s Ministry of Education.

Practical Experience:

  • Experience teaching secondary students (2 years minimum) OR newly qualified from university. This is an essential requirement to meet protocols for work permits.
  • Able to communicate and teach fluently in English and work comfortably in a multinational environment.
  • Computer literate.

Character:

  • Able to work comfortably with a multi-denominational community.
  • Respects diversity while upholding the school’s philosophy of education.

REPORTS TO: High School Level Leader

COMMITMENT:

  • Full-time position teaching with 20 teaching hours of teaching per week and additional responsibilities as assigned. 
  • Full time teachers are expected to be at the school between 7.45-16.15.  
  • A minimum 2-year commitment is preferred.

REMUNERATION:

  • Work permit (subject to approval from authorities) for full time lead classroom teachers and payment of work permit cost.
  • School will help and advice for Employees families permits but all the costs for their permits belongs to employee, school only pays for employee's work and residence permit)
  • The taxes will be deducted from the salary
  • Employees with work permits also receive access to the public health system.
  • Salary provided as 2 x Minimum Wage (gross).
