Lighthouse Primary and Secondary school, situated in the North of Mauritius is seeking a Principal to start in January 2026.
About Lighthouse Primary and Secondary School
Lighthouse currently has 590 students, 55% in our primary school and the remainder in our growing secondary school; the school has had 4 graduating classes and celebrated its 15 years in 2024. The Principal leads the whole school and makes up the Executive Leadership team with the Head of Primary and Head of Secondary, whom the Principal supervises. Lighthouse is a candidate for dual accreditation by ACSI and MSA, set for June 2025. In tandem and as a result of the accreditation process, Lighthouse will be setting its Strategic Plan for the next three years to consolidate significant improvements and innovations of recent years. The incoming Principal will have the benefit of an ongoing committed team but also ideally a handover period for the current Executive Head who will be departing in April 2026.

The main work of the Principal would involve:
- Assuming leadership of the administrative areas of Finance (including Development strategy), Admissions, Communications, Human Resources, IT and Facilities, all of which have their own Leads; setting KPIs and reporting structures for staff in these areas; recommending staff roles and structures for growth
- Leading the HOSs in the supervision of their teaching staff and auxiliaries (e.g. counselors, SEN, learning assistants), teaching and learning and stakeholder management
- Monitoring the professional development plans of the other Executive Leadership members
- Being a key link between the Executive Leadership and the Board, working with the Board to articulate the ongoing Strategic Plan, and with Executive Leadership to develop and execute Schoolwide Professional Development Plans and the Continuous School Improvement Plan
Selection Criteria
- Have a personal commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ and be an active member of a local Christian church
- Be able to lead a Christian school and inspire a Christ-centred approach to education; preferable to have already had experience in a Christian school
- Show competency in leading and training teams in the areas of finance, human resources, talent development and campus projects
- Have led curricular development and data-based academic innovations
- Love people and have proven cross-cultural intelligence and sensitivity, with a keen sense of humour
- Demonstrate humility and ability to continue learning
Key Performance Indicators
The key performance indicators associated with this post shall be mutually agreed upon assumption of post and in line with the new Strategic Plan. However, they may include such parameters as:
- Maintain student retention and admissions targets
- Alignment of culture with mission and vision toward spiritual formation
- Sound operational management and oversight on the administrative areas mentioned above
- Maintain staff engagement and wellbeing
- Regular measurement of school impact: spiritual formation, academic performance, care, and safety of students, supporting students with disabilities, including reporting academic performance data, as per the Expected Community Outcomes
- Evidence of policy review and update where needed, and alignment with operational procedure
