School Counselor
School counselor to help students with academic, emotional and social issues.
Come teach where East meets West! We are looking for a counseling/guidance teacher, who will:
- Have the desire and ability to work with students with diverse backgrounds and levels of ability toward accomplishing their educational goals.
- Listen to students’ concerns about academic, emotional or social problems.
- Help students process their problems and plan goals and actions.
- Mediate conflict between students and teachers.
- Improve parent/teacher relationships.
- Assist with college applications, jobs and scholarships.
- Organize peer counseling programs.
- Refer students to psychologists and other mental health resources as needed.
The language of instruction is English. Academics are based on an American curricular foundation, but a combination of American, British, and school-created curriculum is used. Native English fluency and a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Counseling/Guidance, Education or Social Work and one year experience is required. Experience with Christian schools is strongly preferred. This is a full-time position with teaching hours 9:00-3:00 daily, but includes several planning periods. Teachers are also required to attend a weekly staff meeting and occasional school special events.
