School Director
Job Description:
This position provides overall direction and strategies for the educational and business functions of the Christian Academy of Mozambique (CAM). The school director is ultimately responsible to nurture the development of a distinctively Christian school culture where the Mission, Vision and Core Values of CAM are understood and implemented in a transparent, caring, and Christ-like manner. The School Director builds and maintains effective communication and relationships – internally with staff and students and externally with the community at large which includes parents, the CAM Board, TeachBeyond, OMS, ACSI, the British council and governing authorities.
Responsibilties:
Provide Spiritual Leadership
- Create an environment that is conducive to the spiritual growth of students and staff.
- Ensure a learning environment where faith and learning are transformational
Provide Strategic Leadership
- As the face of CAM, communicate the CAM story, vision and mission in a compelling manner through verbal and non-verbal means
- Provide high-level, strategic direction for the faculty, and staff
- Collaborate with and supervise a team of senior administrators
Provide Stewarding Leadership
- Lead the strategic development and sustainability of an enrolment management plan, a marketing plan, and a development plan
- Oversee advancement operations, including new campaign initiatives, cultivation of current and new donor relationships
- Recruit, develop, support, and retain exceptional administrators, teachers, and staff members aligned with the school mission and the CAM faith statement
- Administer and monitor the operating budget, and proper reporting to the Council regarding financial opportunities or concerns
Provide Educational Leadership
- Serve as the chief academic officer, with broad oversight of teaching and learning at CAM ensuring academic best practice as well as overseeing the school calendar, programs, assessment, and reporting.
- Actively engage with local schools, ISASA and the wider academic community to ensure PreK-12 curriculum viability.
- With the Principal, oversee student issues of academic, social, spiritual, and disciplinary nature
Qualitifications:
- Possess a bachelor's degree in education from a reputable institution
- Possess a master's degree in educational administration/ business management or 3-5 years of equivalent experience in educational leadership
- Demonstrate administrative skills: organizing, planning, problem-solving, and Office Applications
- Experience in developing and implementing a budget
- Active participation (membership) and contribution to TeachBeyond and ACSI
Summary
In short, the new School Director will be a talented manager and leader whose approach is strategic, collaborative, and characterized by the ability to inspire, motivate, and empower others to achieve the goals and objectives of CAM. Highly developed communication skills, creativity, curiosity, and high emotional intelligence will enable the individual to direct the school in a manner that identifies and activates opportunities available. While possessing the skill to lead strategic planning and resource development initiatives, the new School Director will be an executor with the ability to drive change in a positive, productive manner and focus limited resources in areas that best enable efficient achievement of the mission.
