Teacher of English as a Foreign Language to work in the Cloud Forest in Ecuador

The Language Learning Centre in Mindo aims to deliver high quality and accessible language lessons to local students of low income. Through TeachBeyond it aims to develop a concept of transformational education.

Within the natural beauty and peace of Mindo, the project aims to be a home for educators and provide them with the unique opportunity of living, learning and teaching in a paradise: Mindo. This could be an opportunity for retired teachers or teachers in training. Due to the low cost of living, you could have a quite comfortable and restful life, surrounded by beautiful nature, for around $500 a month.

Despite Mindo´s development into one of Ecuador’s most popular tourist destinations, language skills remain an issue in the town. Poor language education provision has made language skills inaccessible for most of the underprivileged population. Only those with the resources to pay for private tuition have the opportunity to become fluent in English, entrenching barriers to social mobility. We are a social small enterprise that is serving the Lord through quality wholesome education.

ENLACE is the first non-profit English Centre in Mindo, serving children, young people and adults. The Centre offers a very low monthly rate of fees in order to make it accessible to all, which has proved to be enticing to many. We have currently achieved in the first year a total of around 100 students, 20 adults are already in B1 class, having started as complete beginners.  We feel extremely blessed to be able to reach out to young people with English Camps where we are able to teach them the Gospel.

Mindo is a very safe town, hidden in a valley. Coming to live in Mindo will be a fascinating experience due to the fact that is has so many tourist activities, such as walking route, cable cart, zip lining, etc. In fact, it is considered to be one of the most important birding areas in South America. 

More importantly, the locals are wonderful and friendly people who are proud of their surroundings, so they look after each other and visitors. You will also have a flexible schedule which will allow you to get to see other beautiful places in Ecuador. The commitment to the school is a minimum of 10 hours a week, split between teaching and admin.  Accomodation cost is $200 a month and food and other personal expenditure can be around $300 a month. We can also arrange for a very convenient health insurance for around $120 a month, which covers up to $15,000 in case of an emergency.

We provide training and induction to all our volunteers and teachers so they can easily fit into our excellent team.
